Liverpool have been urged to sign Ismaila Sarr, with Kevin Phillips claiming the Watford and Senegal winger would be a ‘great’ addition at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his Premier League title-winning squad this summer and signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos last week.

Despite the brilliance of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Liverpool have been linked with moves for attacking players and considering signing Timo Werner before he joined Chelsea.

Former England striker Phillips has identified another potential target for Klopp and says Watford’s Sarr would be a ‘great signing’ for the champions.

The Senegalese winger showed glimpses of his potential for Watford this season despite the club’s relegation to the Championship.

‘He would be a good signing for Liverpool. I like him a lot,’ Phillips told Football Insider.

‘I was amazed when he first went there that he was not played straight away because he arrived for a lot of money.

‘Nigel Pearson got the best out of him. He started to score some goals and from what I have been told from within the club he is a top player and will only get better.

‘Any of those big clubs like Liverpool will be looking and if they can get him out of there on decent money he could turn out to be a great signing.’

After making Greek defender Tsimikas his first signing of the summer, Klopp said: ‘We have watched Kostas for a long time and are really happy that he has joined us. It’s the perfect news before we come back together very soon.

‘He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already.

‘He has showed already at a young age he can experience football in a different country and do well – and he has been a big part of the success Olympiacos has had to win their title this season and in their European campaigns.

‘We are delighted to know we’ll have him with us for the years ahead. I’m so pleased.’
