Glen Johnson has backed Manchester United and Chelsea to pip Leicester to a top-four finish.

Champions Liverpool and Manchester City will finish first and second, barring a disaster for Pep Guardiola’s side, but it’s all to play for in the race to fill the Champions League spots.

Leicester looked set to return to Europe’s premier competition for the first time since winning the Premier League title but they have failed to win four of their five league matches since the season resumed.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have now slipped behind Chelsea into fourth, with Manchester United just a point off The Foxes.

And ahead of their clash with relegation-threatened Bournemouth, former Liverpool and Chelsea right-back Johnson has predicted they will drop out of the top four come the end of the season.

‘I think it will be Chelsea and United,’ Johnson told The Mirror.

‘It would have been a different answer if you’d asked me six weeks ago but I just think United the way they’ve found some form, they’re blowing teams away.

‘They’re probably the hottest team right now and I know Leicester have got a couple of tough games, and they play United last game so it could boiling down to that.

‘But I think I’d go Chelsea third and United fourth.’

Chelsea face Sheffield United on Saturday, while Manchester United will host Southampton at Old Trafford on Monday night.
