Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Earlier today, United States Anti-Doping Administration (USADA) issued a statement on UFC Strawweight Rachael Ostovich (4-5) failed a drug test due to a tainted supplement. Per the report, Ostovich tested positive for ostarine and GW1516, an anabolic agent and Hormone/Metabolic Modulator respectively.

“During an investigation into the circumstances of the positive test, Ostovich-Berdon identified a supplement she had tried which was analyzed at the World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah,” the USADA statement reads. “Although ostarine and GW1516 were not listed on the supplement label, the analysis revealed that the product contained ostarine and GW1516, the substances for which Ostovich-Berdon tested positive. The product label listed another prohibited substance, but Ostovich-Berdon did not realize at the time that it was prohibited. Consistent with other cases with similar circumstances, USADA determined that a small reduction from the default two-year period of ineligibility was justified.

Ostovich-Berdon received an additional reduction to the otherwise applicable period of ineligibility for her Full and Complete Cooperation.”

The final verdict for Ostovich is a one-year suspension, dating back to January 3, 2020.

Ostarine has proven a common problem in these tainted supplement cases, and it’s often a lingering issue. For Ostovich, it’s another major bump in the road, as the Hawaiian has lost her last two bouts inside the Octagon. At the moment, it has yet to be announced whether UFC will release Ostovich as a result of the failed test or keep her on the roster.

On the other end of the equation, two Brazilian legends were awarded the Ugly Jacket Of Legitimacy from USADA.

As a fan, I love Mike Perry … but one has to assume he did something stupid to injure himself here.

“Defend yourself at all times” is good advice for coaches too.

Allow me to say it again: Saturday’s co-main event between Shane Burgos and Josh Emmett is absolute fire. There’s no way it isn’t awesome.

A new way to do a “Gender Reveal.”

Another awesome older boxing clip, which features the power punching combinations of “The Brown Bomber.”

I’m not going to argue with this account’s selection for knockout of the day! Anthony Pettis definitely has a special ability to take the opposite stance of his opponent then brutalize them with round kicks.

Calf kicks are popular right now for good reason. One such reason is because it’s very difficult to throw a cross through the kick, as the lead foot often loses its grip on the canvas upon the calf kick’s impact and thus takes away all power on the punch. However, there are other options …
