Lyon are ready to cash in on Houssem Aouar this summer and want £44.5million for their star playmaker, according to reports.

Aouar is a wanted man, with Liverpool, Juventus, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City all vying for his signature.

RMC Sport claim Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in signing Aouar, but are yet to make direct contact to sign the 21-year-old star.

Pep Guardiola pushed for City to seal the transfer last summer, but Lyon rejected their offer after convincing Aouar to stay for another year in France.

With the coronavirus pandemic set to have a massive impact on the transfer market and fees, Lyon will accept an offer of around £44.5m for Aouar.

There are yet to be any official approaches for Aouar, but Lyon expected several clubs to eventually make their move.

Aouar has missed just three Ligue 1 games this season and is eager to continue playing in the Champions League when he does switch clubs.

City are facing a two-year ban from the competition, while Liverpool just celebrated their one-year anniversary of winning the tournament.

Chelsea were reportedly prepared to pay £43m for Aouar’s services before the coronavirus pandemic hit football, but Frank Lampard is set to be restricted to two major signings.

Roman Abramovich is prepared to front the cash for two ‘marquee’ transfers and Lampard is desperate to add left-back and striker to his ranks.

Liverpool’s ability spend big this summer is likely to be affected by the ongoing health crisis.

The Reds are eager to wrap up a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, but are reluctant to meet his £50m release clause.

Werner and Aouar are long-term targets of Jurgen Klopp’s, but it may be a case of one or the other for Liverpool this summer.
