You ever wonder how Dodgers players are keeping up to date with the official word from MLB on where the season is at? Well, it turns out that third baseman Justin Turner is the de facto leader of the group, at least via text message. LA rookie — and recent best hair in the show winner — Dustin May said as much on “May Day” with AM570 LA Sports Radio’s Petros and Money.

Moreover, D May isn’t giving much thought to the rumors seen online because JT hasn’t said it’s true in a team group chat. As an added nugget, May doesn’t have the cell number for Max Muncy, so what’s up with that?

In the most important news to date, rookie second baseman Gavin Lux made it to the elite 8 in MLB’s “The Show 20 Players League” series being featured online and on ESPN. He lost to top-seeded Rays’ pitcher Blake Snell. A positive takeaway for Lux is that he did crack a 2-run home run as himself in game 2 of the quarterfinals.

Snell faces White Sox hurler Lucas Giolito on Sunday at 11:30am PDT on ESPN.

Next, we have been blessed with several looks at the renovation progress ongoing at Dodger Stadium this week. On Saturday, old friend John Kay was back at Chavez Ravine with his drone to give us another fun flyover.

Some folks may be bored of these updates, but honestly, I will never be able to get enough of them. In this latest look, new awnings have been introduced to the plaza. Additionally, the new “front door” as team president Stan Kasten called it has its entry gates coming together.

Early in March on a tour of the stadium, senior vice president of planning and development Janet Marie Smith let us know that the existing entry points beyond centerfield would all be pushed back accordingly to create new space for the added elevators, concessions and more.

The ballpark truly is a gem now.
