Manchester United are struggling to find a buyer for winger Alexis Sanchez, as Inter Milan are hesitant to sign the expensive flop on a permanent basis, according to reports.

The Chile international was shipped out on a season-long loan to Italy after scoring just three goals in 32 appearances for the Red Devils.

According to The Sun, the Serie A giants are reluctant to sign him due to his exorbitant wages of around £505,000 a week.

United have already taken a big hit on the 31-year-old, with the Milan club offering up just £80,000 a week towards the total wage for his services this season.

One of the reasons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to part ways with Sanchez was the negativity he brought to the club, which the Norwegian boss doesn’t want to infiltrate his young, determined side.

With over two years still left on his Old Trafford deal, United could have to fork out around £55m if they decide to part ways with the forward before his contract expires.

Sanchez’s international coach Reinaldo Rueda detailed the ‘tortuous’ year the winger endured after his move from Arsenal to the Manchester club in 2018, but maintains he can still play to a high level.

He said: ‘It’s been a traumatic year for him, very tortuous, even after his departure from Arsenal, his first year in Manchester.

‘He came to the Copa America in Brazil and then he was very unlucky to get injured in Alicante in a friendly against Colombia. It almost frustrated his loan to Inter.

‘Once he had recovered, the [coronavirus] pandemic happened. I hope it [coronavirus] passes fast because he is a great professional.

‘He has a great training culture and he will maintain a high level at any club that can give him an opportunity. He has a lot of football yet to show at the top level.’
