Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed his favourite midfield partners from his playing days at the Emirates.

The Spaniard signed for the Gunners in 2011 from Everton and instantly became a fans’ favourite in north London.

Arteta spent five years at Arsenal, the first half of which was a rocky period under Arsene Wenger.

However, things picked up in the second half and Arteta won back-to-back FA Cups by the end of his time at the club.

The Spaniard was predominantly deployed at the base of the midfield and Arteta revealed during a Q&A with the club’s website that he enjoyed playing with Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Aaron Ramsey.

‘I had the pleasure to share the pitch with some great players.

‘Our relationship, our chemistry on the pitch I have to say Santi Cazorla – he was one of the best.

‘I am and was a massive fan of Rosicky. He’s one of the most intelligent players I played with.

‘It was really good with Aarron [Ramsey] but I don’t know, there was lots of good players around.’
