Manchester United are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Diogo Dalot just two years after he arrived at the club due to the excellent displays of Aaron Wan-Bissaka this season.

The England international arrived from Crystal Palace last summer and quickly became an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s back-line, missing just three Premier League matches all season.

His defensive abilities have always stood out, but as the season has progressed the 22-year-old has also added more attacking intent to his game and would be in the conversation for United’s Player of the Year award.

A year before Wan-Bissaka’s arrival, United had spent £19million on Dalot and, despite some promising performances, The Sun report they are now prepared to offload the Portuguese defender.

Dalot is highly regarded – and was considered one of the best young defenders in Europe by former boss Jose Mourinho – but there is a feeling that Wan-Bissaka’s excellent form and reliable fitness will give the younger Portuguese very few opportunities.

Having struggled with injuries this season, Dalot has played just 65 minutes in the Premier League and only made six additional appearances across the Europa League and FA Cup.

But the 21-year-old is eager for game time and both the club and player will know that his development hinges on playing more regularly than he can expect to while Wan-Bissaka is ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Sun’s report claims Solskjaer has changed his plans regarding Dalot and United are open to selling him – though would expect a sizeable offer similar to the fee they paid Porto in 2018.

Solskjaer has other players who can fill in at right-back if needed, while there is a need for United to offload players and raise funds to land top target Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils will need to break their transfer record – which stands at the £89m spent on Paul Pogba – to sign Sancho, with Borussia Dortmund looking to receive as much as £120m for a player who has hit double figures for both goals and assists in the Bundesliga this season.
